End of June Update

Well, we’ve been hard at it this month so I haven’t taken many opportunities to post here.

We are really enjoying our chickens. They will be 7 weeks old this Friday.

This is our Polish (male?). He is the only one with a name so far....meet "Kramer". He reminds us so much of the beloved "Seinfeld" character. Lots of laughs!

Harvesting season has begun early this year, since we had an early garden.

We still have two long rows of green beans that will be ready in a couple weeks. We expect them to produce twice as many quarts as the ones pictured above. Considering we are still eating green beans from 2012, I don’t think we need to bother planting any next year, but of course Hubs’ motto is a family can never have too many jars of green beans. Well, if something tragic happens and we have to live off our storage I guess we’ll be living off green beans. šŸ™‚

The rest of our garden is doing well. I picked cucumbers today that I will pickle in the morning. Corn, tomatoes, peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, carrots, cushaw and butternut squash is coming along nicely as well. One thing is for sure, we are going to have to purchase more jars!

We are so thankful for the Lord’s abundance!

The beginning stages of our chicken house. Wait until you see the finished result (hopefully soon!). My dad is copying his dad's old-fashioned chicken house from when he was a kid.

How’s your summer going? Do you have a garden?
